The Pivot Lab
You decided to coach. Now build the thing.
You can finish a coaching certification feeling genuinely proud of what you learned, or decide after years of being the person everyone calls that coaching is next, and still sit down the next morning with no idea what to do with it. You know how to coach. But now someone asks:
What kind of coach are you?
And suddenly you're trying to explain 15 years of experience, 6 different people you could help, 3 ideas for an offer, and the business you haven't technically built yet.
You don't need it all figured out before you come. That's what we'll figure out together.
Training solved one problem.
Training
It taught you how to coach.
It didn't answer
- Who should I work with?
- What exactly am I offering?
- What should I charge?
- Where do the first clients come from?
Real practice
- How specific do I need to be?
- How do I use everything I did before this?
- Do I need a website?
- What am I supposed to post?
- And how do I talk about any of this without sounding like every other coach on the internet?
That's a different set of decisions, and they're hard because, for the first time in a long time, there's no obvious next rung.
There's no promotion path. No job description. No manager telling you what "good" looks like.
You get to decide. Which sounds freeing until you have to actually do it.
You don't need more information.
What am I selling, and who am I going to talk to about it?
You can lose months avoiding that question. Another niche exercise. Another workbook. Another webinar about content. Another person telling you to build a funnel. Another afternoon changing the words in your Instagram bio.
I want us spending our time on that question, and on building what your practice needs next.
You are new to this business. You are not new.
You bring it with you.
I care about this distinction a lot.
If you spent 10, 15, or 20 years leading people, managing teams, solving ugly problems, running projects, selling, hiring, firing, negotiating, presenting, parenting, building a business, surviving something hard, changing industries, making high-stakes decisions, or being the person everybody comes to when they need help thinking something through, that didn't disappear because your title says "coach" now.
Some of it belongs in your coaching practice. Part of our job is figuring out which parts give you a real advantage, and which stay where they came from. I'm not interested in helping you manufacture a coach persona.
I want to help you build from who you already are.
I did this in a weird order.
I built businesses before I got certified as a coach. For years, my work was operations. I led teams, managed budgets, built systems, and fixed things that weren't working. Started companies. Sold services. Worked with clients. Made a lot of decisions with imperfect information.
And I coached people before I ever had the piece of paper telling me I was a coach. Then I went through certification. I'm glad I did. The craft matters to me enormously. But certification made something very obvious:
Teaching someone to coach and teaching them to build a practice are 2 different jobs.
A great coaching question won't decide your price. Active listening won't tell you which offer to launch first. Being great in a session doesn't mean you'll know what to say when someone asks "so how can I work with you?"
You need both. I come from both sides, and I bring both into the work with you.
So what is The Pivot Lab?
It's 4 weeks with me. Privately. We meet 1:1 once a week, and you have access to me in Slack between sessions while you're actually working on the business.
I know how this goes.
You leave a session feeling clear. Then on Wednesday you write the offer and hate it. Thursday someone asks what you do and you give an answer that's 4 minutes long. Friday you're staring at 2 prices wondering whether either of them makes sense.
That's the work, and I want to be there while you're in it.
The container
We make the decisions you've been circling.
There are a handful of things that have to become clear enough for you to start.
- Who are you starting with?
- What do they need help with?
- Why does it make sense for you to help them?
- What are you offering?
- What happens when someone pays you?
- How long do you work together?
- What does it cost?
- How do you explain it without sounding like you copied somebody else's homepage?
- Where are you going to find people to talk to?
- And what do you genuinely need before you begin?
We work through those questions together. Then you build. Then we look at what you built. Then we make it better.
The 4 weeks
One decision a week, until you're started.
Who are you starting with?
By the end of week 1: You can say "I'm starting here," and mean it.
Your first audience is a starting point. You can change it later. We need a smart place to start.
We'll look at
- your experience
- the work you know well
- the problems you understand
- the people you enjoy
- what others already trust you for
- what kind of coaching you actually want to spend your time doing
What are you actually selling?
By the end of week 2: An offer you can stand behind today.
This is where the idea becomes an offer.
We'll decide what the work is
- The problem
- The outcome
- The container
- How long you work together
- What support makes sense and what doesn't
- Your boundaries
- Your price
- The simplest reasonable way for someone to say yes
How are you going to talk about it?
By the end of week 3: You can tell someone what you do without needing a diagram.
This is where a lot of very smart people get weird. You know exactly what you mean in your own head, then somebody asks what you do.
We'll work on
- the way you describe who you help
- the problem
- the offer
- your bio
- the language you use online
- the words you use sitting across from an actual person
Start telling people.
At some point the business has to leave the document.
We'll look at
- the people already around you
- your existing network
- people one introduction away
- the conversations you're already having
- where it makes sense for you to show up
- what you could post
- who you could invite to talk
- how to make an offer without turning into a completely different person
Not "getting ready to launch."

"I walked away with a full business that I'm proud of."
Takiyah"Jamella is a master at what she does… helping distill down exactly what it is that I'm trying to do, explain, define, and create."

Private clientHere's what we should have built by the time we're done.
- A starting audience you can explain
- A problem you understand well enough to coach around
- An offer
- A price
- A clear structure for how you work with someone
- Language for describing what you do
- A stronger bio and profile
- A simple next step for someone who wants to work with you
- People you know you need to talk to
- A plan for showing up and making offers
- A 30–90 day plan, so you're not wondering what Monday morning looks like
- And, whenever possible, feedback from actual conversations you have started having
4 weeks won't build a perfect business.
Here's what I promise:
We stop treating your coaching practice like an idea.

Send it messy. That's the point.
I don't want you building a coaching business for coaches on the internet.
Meaning: don't do something just because you've watched enough people online do it that it feels mandatory.
We find your constraint. Then we work on that.
This is for you if
- You have decided coaching is your next move, whether you have finished a certification or not, and you want to use what you know.
- You have a career and a life behind you. You're not trying to invent credibility from scratch.
- You keep changing the offer before anyone sees it.
- You know you need to start talking to people, and you would really like somebody in your corner while you do.
- You're willing to do the work while we're together.
This isn't for you if
- You're still asking "do I even want to be a coach?" That's a different question.
- You want me to create a whole business for you while you watch.
- You're looking for guaranteed clients, or guaranteed revenue.
- You have an established practice and need sophisticated scale, team, paid acquisition, or advanced business infrastructure.
This is the early build. And I want to be very good at solving that problem.
The questions you're asking.
What if I choose the wrong niche?
It happens. Here's the honest answer.
You could choose an audience and learn after 8 conversations that you're much more interested in an adjacent problem. You could launch an 8-week offer and realize 4 weeks makes more sense. You could charge one price and decide it's too low. You could start talking about one thing and discover people keep asking you about another.
Spending 6 months trying to get it perfect costs more than a wrong first guess. You're allowed to adjust. Your first offer's job is to get you close enough to real people to find out what works.
What if I already know my niche?
Great. We'll pressure-test what you have, make sure the offer makes sense for that audience, and move on.
What if I have no idea who I want to coach?
That's okay too. You don't need the answer before Pivot Lab. You do need to be willing to choose a starting point while we're together.
Are you going to tell me exactly what niche to choose?
I'll help you make a strong decision.
You still own your business. You own the decisions, actions, and results. I'm here to make sure you're not trying to make those decisions in a vacuum.
Are you going to write everything for me?
No. I'll edit, challenge, suggest, help you shape it, tell you when something isn't working, and tell you to cut. I want you to understand your own business and know how to talk about it when I'm not standing next to you.
Will I get clients during the 4 weeks?
If you're talking to enough people, it's a real possibility. I don't guarantee clients or income. I help you build an offer, put it in front of people, learn from what happens, and get better.
Something didn't work? Good. That means we have information.
Why now
What does another 6 months of circling cost you?
Every month the business stays in your head is a month with no clients, no proof, and the same pause every time someone asks, "So, what do you do?"
You've already decided. The next 4 weeks can be the ones where you start.
Urgency and patience live in the same place. Starting this week is the urgent part. Building it over the next 30 to 90 days is the patient part.

I respond in Slack Monday through Friday, within 24 hours.
What you're wondering.
Do I need to be certified?
No. You need to have decided coaching is your next move. If you're certified, we build the practice around the training you have. If you're not yet, we build the offer around the experience you already have, and we talk honestly about the training you will want.
This isn't a coach-training program. We're working on the practice around the coaching.
Do I need a website?
Not to start. If there's a faster, simpler way to start having conversations and taking clients, we're going to use it.
Do I need an audience?
No. I care much more about whether you can identify people to talk to than whether you have a large following.
You can have 8,000 followers and no clients. You can also get your first clients through people you already know. We'll work with what you actually have.
How much time should I expect this to take?
You need enough space each week to attend your private session and actually work on what we're building.
It's not a second full-time job. It also won't work if you only think about your business during our call.
How much Slack access do I get?
You have direct access to me between sessions for the work we're doing together. Questions, drafts, decisions, feedback, and real situations that come up while you're implementing.
I respond Monday through Friday, within 24 hours. We'll set expectations in onboarding so "access" doesn't turn into either of us living in Slack.
What happens after Pivot Lab?
You'll leave knowing what you're working on for the next 30 to 90 days.
Some clients want more support. Some don't. The Lab does its job without you buying anything else.
Is The Yield Standard included?
No. The Yield Standard is separate and much deeper. It's focused on coach development, mastery, professional practice, and the larger standard of work.
Pivot Lab has a narrower job: get the business out of your head and start building it.
What happens after I purchase?
You create your account and verify your email, then sign the participant agreement.
From there you complete your intake, your private Slack channel is set up, and you book your first session. Everything happens inside your portal, and nothing requires a call with me first.
When can I start?
Pivot Lab is rolling. There's no cohort start date and nothing to wait for.
You join when you're ready, complete onboarding, and book your first session at the earliest time that works for you.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
All sales are final. There are no refunds, partial refunds, or credits. The engagement begins immediately upon enrollment, and my time, preparation, and custom work are committed to you from the moment you join.
If you are unable to complete the program due to a documented personal emergency, I may, at my discretion, offer a one-time transfer of your enrollment to a later start date within 6 months. That is a courtesy rather than a right, and it is subject to availability.
You can reschedule a session with at least 48 hours' notice. The full terms are in the participant agreement you sign before we begin.
You already did the part that made you a coach
Now let people know you're one.
You need somebody to help, something to offer them, a price, and words you can say out loud. That's 4 weeks of work with me.
Not to finish your business. To finally begin it.
